Getting arrested is terrifying. Your instinct is to pull away or ask "Why?"
Sadly, police often charge people with "Resisting Arrest" just for asking questions or tensing up their arms. We have seen clients charged with resisting even when they were the ones who called the police for help!
This charge is often used to justify rough handling by officers.
If you are charged with resisting, we look for bodycam footage. Did the officer explain what was happening? Were you actually resisting, or just confused? We hold police accountable for overcharging.
