Should You Take the Deal?
In the movies, every case goes to a dramatic trial. In real life, most cases end with a "Plea Bargain."
This is a deal where you agree to plead guilty to a lesser charge in exchange for a lighter punishment. It can be a smart move. It removes the risk of a long prison sentence.
But prosecutors often try to scare you into taking a bad deal. They pile on charges to make you panic.
Never sign a deal without a lawyer reviewing the evidence first. If the police made a mistake, or if the evidence is weak, we might be able to get the case dismissed entirely. Don't settle for "guilty" if you have a chance to win.
