Watch Out for the “Door Prize.”
It is a cyclist's worst nightmare. You are riding in the bike lane, and suddenly a parked driver flings their door open right in front of you. You have no time to stop.
This is called "dooring," and it causes severe injuries.
Drivers have a legal duty to check their mirror before opening their door into traffic. If they don't, they are 100% at fault.
Bicycles are vehicles, too. You have a right to be on the road. Insurance adjusters often try to bully cyclists, claiming they were riding too fast or "swerved."
We stand up for cyclists. We know the traffic laws, and we force the insurance companies to respect them.
