When ceramic coating is actually a bad idea
Ceramic coating is a great way to protect your paint, add gloss, improve water behavior, and make your vehicle easier to clean.
But it is not always the best first step.
1. When the paint is already damaged
If your vehicle has heavy swirl marks, oxidation, hard water spots, sap stains, or dull paint, ceramic coating will not hide it. In some cases, it can lock those defects underneath.
That is why proper wash, decontamination, and paint correction matter before coating.
2. When you are trying to stop rock chips
Ceramic coating is not impact protection.
It will not stop rocks, sand, or road debris from chipping your hood, bumper, mirrors, or fenders. If your main concern is highway damage, Paint Protection Film is the better option for those high-impact areas.
Ceramic coating helps with gloss and easier cleaning.
PPF helps take the hit.
3. When you want zero maintenance
Ceramic coating is low maintenance, not no maintenance.
Brush car washes, harsh soaps, hard water, road grime, and neglect can reduce performance over time. A coating still needs proper washing to stay slick, glossy, and hydrophobic.
Ceramic coating works best when the paint is properly prepped and the expectations are realistic.
If your paint needs correction first, we will tell you. If PPF makes more sense, we will tell you.
The goal is to protect your vehicle the right way.
