How long should you let tree sap and road grime sit on your paint?
Not long.
Tree sap, road grime, bug residue, bird droppings, pollen, and hard water minerals can bond to your clear coat the longer they sit. Once they bake under the sun, they become harder to remove and may leave staining, dull spots, or etching on the paint.
A basic wash may remove loose dirt, but bonded contamination usually needs proper paint decontamination. That can include a safe hand wash, bug and tar removal, tree sap removal, clay bar treatment, polishing, or paint correction depending on how severe the buildup is.
If your paint feels rough, sticky, gritty, or still looks dirty after washing, that is a sign contamination is already sitting on the surface.
The longer you wait, the more work it takes to safely remove it without damaging the paint.
Our mobile detailing service brings professional exterior detailing to your home, office, or location, so you do not have to wait until the buildup gets worse. We can help remove surface contamination, clean the paint properly, and prepare it for wax, sealant, or ceramic coating protection.
