Kinohana Nail Studio

Went there for a gel manicure and was very happy with the outcome. However when I went back for the gel soak off and manicure (without polish), I was left disappointed - the base/gel was not properly removed entirely so what was left are small patches here and there on each nail (attached are some pics on what it looks like that afternoon after returning home from the nail studio). Also there were line cracks on my thumb nail after the soak off (see pic) and the stylist did not even bother attending to it such as bringing up if I would like a nail strengthener etc. She just brushed the cuticle oil on the cuticle area on all fingers and went off. On a separate note, it was also rather strange that I had to go to the toilet area to wash my hands before coming back for her to apply the cuticle oil. Have been to so many nail salons in Singapore and overseas over the years and this was the first time I had to do so which was very puzzling… [Response to nail salon’s reply] Please train the manicurists on a regular basis. I have never come across such a bad soak off + manicure (without polish) outcome in my life - even JB nail salons do a much better job with highest level of attention and service for half the price. Yes I understand I have this issue with my thumb nail and other nail salons have always went above and beyond to address it when they see it instead of turning a blind eye to it. Also, other nail salons use sanitized fresh hot wet towels at the end before cuticle care as part of the experience rather than asking the customer to go to the toilet to wash their hands. For the price the nail studio is charging (which is comparable to other popular nail salons with good reputation), it would be good to review and upgrade the entire customer experience.

First time at KinoHana, and managed to get a slot with Director Kokia. Great attention to details for nail prep and a variety of flame bits were being used to clean up the cuticle area. Both hard gel and polish were applied nicely. Only setback was during payment, when I informed I had already input my cc details during booking via the website. The staff understood what was being implied immediately and explained that booking via website would sometimes prompt the person to pay for the appointment in full. A sale was taken via EDC and had to be voided. In this case, it will take about 14-21 business days for the bank to return the money. Perhaps, it would be better to determine an amount to be collected as deposit during booking and the rest be collected after the appointment to minimise confusion in the future.
