How to Seal a Home Against Pests
Pest control can be an issue for some homeowners. Sometimes it can feel like a losing battle. However, one can win the war by taking appropriate actions to prevent them from gaining access to the house. There are several ways to keep these unwelcome pests outside where they belong.
Seal up cracks
Ants, roaches, crickets, mice, and rats can get inside a building through the smallest cracks and holes. For example, a mouse only needs a dime-sized hole and a rat the size of a quarter. Therefore, eliminating access to the inside will keep these pests at bay.
The best weapon is a caulking gun. First, examine exterior walls around windows and doors and where cracks and gaps could occur. Next, seal up obvious cracks, gaps, and holes. Also, inspect areas where wires, cables, or pipes enter the home, as these are likely to have small openings. Sealing up any access points will ensure pests stay away.
