Project update – Cedar Shake Shingle Home
Today we stopped by a beautiful home with classic cedar shake shingle siding that was ready for some attention. The natural wood had begun to weather, losing its protective finish and showing signs of UV exposure. Our plan is to restore and preserve it using a semi transparent stain designed specifically for cedar.
Cedar is a living material that expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity. To protect it properly, it needs a coating that breathes and moves with the wood. A semi transparent stain is perfect for this. It enhances the natural grain while shielding against moisture, mold, and UV damage. Unlike paint, it won’t peel or trap water underneath, and it ages gracefully over time.
We’ll be giving this home a deep clean, gentle prep, and fresh application of premium stain to lock out moisture and bring the cedar’s natural warmth back to life. With regular maintenance, cedar shake can last for decades, and this project will help it stay beautiful and protected through many seasons to come.
