Project Update: Two Tone Deck Refinish and Care Tips
We recently completed a beautiful two tone deck using two premium products selected for long lasting protection and design contrast. The decking was finished with Behr Waterproofing Stain and Sealer from Home Depot, and the railings were painted with Sherwin Williams Emerald Rain Refresh. Together these coatings protect against Georgia humidity, sunlight, and weather while keeping the deck looking new.
For the deck boards we used a solid color stain, ideal for horizontal surfaces because it penetrates wood, resists peeling, and provides strong UV and moisture protection. On the railings we used Emerald Rain Refresh, a self cleaning paint that sheds dirt and debris with rain, giving a crisp finish that stays bright longer. The contrast between the solid stain and the smooth railings creates a modern look.
We also added lighted post caps for an elegant detail and took extra care to protect the homeowner’s plants and garden throughout the process.
After refinishing, avoid placing heavy furniture or planters until the finish fully cures per the Behr label. Keep pets with sharp claws off the surface during this time.
To maintain the finish and preserve Jose’s Painting 18 Month Warranty, the deck must receive two professional pressure washings within that period to remove buildup and keep coatings performing as intended.
