What is Starlink?
Starlink is a private satellite Internet service launched by Elon Musk's aerospace company, SpaceX.
It was first prototyped in 2018 and made available to North American consumers in late 2020 and as of this year it is now available right here in Australia.
SpaceX's plan is to have thousands of low-earth satellites forming a global cluster capable of delivering Internet services to just about any spot on the planet.
It aims to provide high-speed broadband to customers Australia wide who can't get a decent NBN connection.
This Starlink system was installed recently by Duane from Jim’s Antennas Hope Valley.
The installation required some careful checking of the area and mapping of the sky to ensure the best location as the unit is motorised and needs specific locating for optimum performance. The unit itself supplies high speed internet in quite a different way which allows for speeds in excess of 300mBps which is fantastic. The system was mounted in the optimal position and fully tested and checked after power up. Another very happy customer with his new technology that we at Jim’s Antennas are fully qualified to install and setup.
