Recently, Shane from Jim’s Antennas helped a customer by relocating their FTTP ONT (Optical Network Terminal), which included moving a separate power supply and enclosed backup battery, to another room for better access and convenience.
Because the new location was further from the external NTD (network termination device), it required a longer optic fibre cable. Fibre optic cables are delicate, containing a glass core that needs precise termination to operate within the correct dBm range. This kind of installation demands specific training and licensing.
