Jake's Moving and Storage

I ordered Jake’s moving & storage located in Rockville on March 29 for April 10. After an all day move which I had to pay an additional time @$215 an hour. My biggest problem was I had to return the wardrobe boxes they recycled them or pay $25 for each box! Now my clothes are laying on the floor because I had to unpack them immediately. What a ripoff

Jake's Moving and Storage - 1 Star Do not hire this company. They took advantage of a single mother and failed to complete the job. Jake's Moving was hired to move furniture into a new home. When they couldn't figure out how to fit a sofa through the doorway, instead of problem-solving, they gave up and put the furniture in storage - charging $80 for storage plus $140 for the incomplete move. We then hired a different contractor who got the sofa in with no issues for $300, proving it was never a difficult job - Jake's team simply didn't know what they were doing. When we contacted Jake's about the situation and requested compensation for their failure to complete the job, they: Ignored multiple phone calls Refused to return calls When they finally responded, they were dismissive, belittling, and mocking Claimed they "didn't do anything wrong" Offered zero solutions or compensation Total cost for their incompetence: $520 ($80 storage + $140 incomplete move + $300 for actual professional movers). Unprofessional, incompetent, and terrible customer service. Save yourself the money and frustration - hire literally anyone else

Great moving service. Clean out, not so much. I’m in the process of doing a local move and heard about Jake’s as they do moving and clean out services. I thought it would be great to kill two birds with one stone. The crew was great initially for the move. I just had to point and tell them what was being moved and they took care of it with ease. One of the biggest pieces they moved like the professionals they are. Everything was neatly and professionally packed and protected, and unloading it at the place was easy. My major problems came with the clean out. I was told that the crew will do it all on one day, which is nice and easy. I paid for that and the move and it was a breeze through their website and customer service portal. But after unpacking and unloading the items at the new location, the crew disappeared. I waited for over an hour before calling up the crew and they seemed to have not known or forgotten that there was a clean out also attached to this service. I even mentioned at several points as I was speaking with the lead mover that certain specific items were for the clean out. The crew got back an hour later, and I could tell that I had ruined their day. They weren’t as friendly and I even helped to move out items and help load up the truck with the junk that needed to be removed. While I can understand the frustration with thinking a job was done and having to go back to complete it, I felt that for what I paid and arranged it could have been a lot better on the back end of the service. There could have been better preparation and discussion between the crew and the office about what was supposed to be on the job list. I would recommend them for moving without a doubt. But doing a move and a clean out together isn’t something I’d recommend doing based on my experience.

Hired Jake's for my parent's move. They were prompt, professional and efficient. Had everything wrapped and loaded in no time. When we arrived at the new place they carefully unloaded, unwrapped and placed everything exactly where I asked then took all of the trash. I highly recommend Jake's moving for a painless move!

I purchased of all things a 7&1/2 foot totem pole !! But the totem pole was in Maryland and I’m in Arizona a long ways away so after looking around and speaking with may other companies I New Jakes where the one!! Great service on time and on cost !! The movers were extremely quick, efficient, and professional! Simon led his team excellently. We were in a tight spot and needed a quick move and the team from Jake's moving and storage stepped in. Throughout the entire process they were communicative and thorough and even through some scheduling errors, they ensured that we were able to get quality work. We finished much earlier than expected. I certainly got my money's worth and then some!

I was contacted by Simon at Jake’s Moving, and he had a great out of the box solution for moving my 500 lb crate. Because of his smart thinking I was able to save half the money estimated by three other movers! His team went above and beyond to get the job done, they were quick, careful, and pleasant to work with. I did have a snafu with communication initially, and was going to hire other movers instead until I got their much steeper estimates. It turns out the communication was my fault completely, and I was glad I was able to procure their services!

During the selling of our home and purchasing a new one, I was actively looking for a good moving and packing company. I found a great one in Jake's Moving and Storage. John was nothing short of fantastic! He made certain to explain the whole process with patience. I felt the estimate was fair and was less than another one I received. The Packing Team was very efficient and respectful of my Home. Anderson and his Moving Team showed up on time and went right to work. They did a great job and did not damage anything in either of my houses. I highly recommend these folks!

We had a great experience with Jake's Moving and Storage with the "all inclusive price". We hired them to move approx 10,000 pounds of self packed boxes, furniture, and odds and ends that they packed for us in a 27ft truck. I can't describe how hard the three movers worked all day and got the job done. They were efficient, kind, professional and had a great work ethic. When we contacted Jake's, John helped us with estimating what we needed. We thought we might need two trucks. John had us send him pictures and assured us we only needed one truck. It was perfect and saved us money. Thank you again.

We were extremely disappointed with our experience on June 7th in Hagerstown, MD. After paying a significant amount in moving fees, my wife and I were shocked to find that we still had to move a large portion of our belongings ourselves. We had specifically hired this company to pack and move all of our items—but they didn’t have the capacity to complete the job, and no discount or meaningful resolution was offered. To make matters worse, once we arrived at our new home, the movers made us immediately unpack the wardrobe boxes they had just packed so they could take them back. That added unnecessary stress to an already exhausting day. This was supposed to be a full-service move, but what we received was far from it. We ended up having to return to our old house to finish packing and moving everything ourselves—after already paying for professional help. I would not recommend this company.
