If you care about your safety or the safety of your family DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from Denver Marine also do not trust them to service anything. I purchased a brand new Evinrude G2 from them in 2015 and they rigged everything and I was on the water for 20 hours before I had issues with the motor. When rigging the boat, they used parts that were not part of the BRP rigging package and the negative power cable separated and was the catalyst for a huge amount of problems that ended up with the powerhead being replaced. Luckily BRP/Evinrude is much better than Denver Marine and the replacement was covered under warranty.
After the powerhead was replaced I had no issues with the motor until 2017 when I started getting error codes from the engine. I took it to a different dealer (Portside Marine) at the coast who found that the NMEA 2000 cable had considerable corrosion in several of the connections... they were beside themselves because Denver Marine had put the NEMA network in the bilge of the boat. This was not covered under warranty and I spent about $700 to get that fixed properly. The first line of instructions on the NEMA stuff tells you to put it in a dry location... the bilge is not a dry location.
A few months later I got a notification that there was a recall on the engine and since I had the boat home I took it to Denver Marine. I had about 300 hours on the engine at this point and when I went to pick it up I was given a $900 service bill (for a recall), they decided to replace all the spark plugs and do a service on the motor even though I had only brought it in for the recall and they never asked about the service. Side note, the G2 has a 5 year/500 hour service interval. One interesting fact that comes into play later, was they said that there was corrosion on the motor and had sprayed it down with an anti-corrosion agent and fixed the problem. After being called a liar by the sales guy because he claimed I told them to do the service however the work order clearly said that it was there for the recall, I left a poor review and Ed (the owner) called me and refunded my money so I changed the review to 3 stars because although he did the right thing by refunding my money for a service I didn't authorize, being called a liar by a member of his staff would not allow me to give them a higher rating.
So this year (2020) I went to go out on the boat and it wouldn't start and gave me a number of error codes. I took it to Denver Marine to have them fix it and they said I had a bunch of corrosion and they weren't going to work on it because I gave them a 3 star review. They had told me the previous time I brought it in that they fixed the corrosion problem and what was causing it which clearly was not the case because the motor is so bad that the powerhead is going to have to be replaced again.
I fish offshore, 30-80 miles off the coast, and luckily I didn't have any problems caused by Denver Marine's incompetence while offshore. They claimed they fixed the corrosion problem and didn't and because I gave a truthful 3 star review, refused to work on the motor which I had purchased from them. I would never trust my life or the life of my family to anything that Denver Marine touched. I would hope my experience is an isolated incident but it truly does not appear to be unique as several other people have had issues with them. Hopefully their incompetence doesn't hurt or kill anyone.
