200 Bar vs 200 PSI Why Most GDI Tests Are Worthless
Just tested some GDI fuel injectors that were bought on eBay. Listing said "all tested and working ..at 43 PSI" lol
Most sellers test GDI injectors at port injector pressure:
43 PSI (standard)
Maybe 100 PSI (if they're fancy)
But .....GDI ACTUALLY OPERATES AT:
200 bar = 2,900 PSI
That's not a typo. Sixty seven times higher pressure.
So, at low pressure (43 PSI): All looked great
At 200 bar (actual GDI pressure): Two failures
One injector flowing 9% less than the others.
Install these? You've got a lean cylinder waiting to detonate.
Testing at low pressure is like:
Test-driving a race car at 5 mph!!!!
Sure, it works but not under real conditions.
THE RULE:
GDI injectors MUST be tested at 200 bar minimum. Below that? The results are worthless.
Before you buy "tested" injectors, ask:
"What pressure did you test at?"
If they can't answer or say anything under 200 bar.... run.
We test ALL GDI injectors at 200 bar. Always.
