Response to IMC automotives comment on my last review: Mr IMC I’m sure you have spoken to the mechanic responsible for this, and I hope you had a long and honest chat with yourself. You stated you didn’t carry out the work that one other fella was there to help you and he done the work, but yet on the first day when you “fitted the starter” you told me how difficult it was for YOU to get in at the starter, how YOU thought YOU’D have to take out the whole drive shaft because it was so tight. How YOU put a rubber glove over the wire so YOU didn’t have to disconnect the battery because of the radio code. That it was such a difficult job for YOU to do that’s why it was a little bit more than the initial quote. YOU spoke so much about how much labour was in it for YOU to do it, which looking back now, perhaps that was your intention for me to believe that you did actually carry out this job when you knew right well that you hadn’t. You went above and beyond to convince me that this job was done. After hearing how much work it was and to thank you for doing it so quickly, I even gave you a tip for a job you didn’t do. You denied fitting the earth wire on the third breakdown in January, that it was your little helper but in fact you were working on your own that day and the day before. You couldn’t do it the Monday because of jobs you had booked in and you were under so much pressure on the Tuesday but you managed to get it done. You told me you were all by yourself that week, and when I got there nobody else was there. So yes I do believe you that you didn’t fit the wire, we can agree on that, but we both know that nobody fitted the wire. Following on to the make shift fuse, you told me the car was ready to go. You told me the fuse that was in it was perfectly okay, that you were so busy that you didn’t have time to go down and get a proper fuse. You never mentioned that you couldn’t get one for a few days. I was able to get one 10 minutes after I left your garage. You insisted it was safe and it wouldn’t be a problem. When I sent a picture to my usual mechanic, he was appalled and insisted that I change it immediately, that no mechanic should let a car out in an unsafe manner like that, that it is an extreme fire hazard. So you’re wrong that I insisted that I needed it straight away. You just added that wire to prevent the fuse blowing again so you could hide the fact that you never done the job I paid you to do in the first place. Mr IMC, unfortunately this couldn’t have been dealt with any better, because unfortunately I fell victim to your deceiving practice, overcharged for work not even carried out. It honestly makes me wonder how many more unfortunate people have been fooled by you like this. People rely on you to provide an honest service and you betray their trust. I am all for supporting small local businesses but deceitful actions like this, I want to make sure you can’t do this to anyone else again. Oh and I have added all the proof you need to both reviews for the work you didn’t carry out.

I didn’t know about Ian until a week ago. His garage is a bit off the beaten track but well worth taking the trouble to find it. Ian did a great and comprehensive service to my beloved Skoda Superb 2.0 L estate auto. He also correctly diagnosed the source of an annoying knocking sound from the rear, that others couldn’t fix. He’s a young man with the mechanic gene in his blood. If you want top class work done on your car contact Ian Mc Allister.
