IMA Urgent Care and Primary Care Centers collected over 125 cases of bottled water for local fire departments from their patients. The bottled water drive was held during May and IMA patients dropped off cases of bottled water to IMA’s 3 urgent care centers and 8 primary care offices.
“Volunteer fire departments rely on bottled water during a fire not only to stay hydrated but to rinse hands and face after a fire. And thanks to the generosity of IMA's patients, we are able to donate so many cases of water to help the fire departments out” states Dr. Roger Thompson of IMA.
Temperatures can soar while fighting a fire or rescue attempt. By providing bottled water, we can ensure fire fighters stay hydrated during an emergency. Additionally, bottled water is more convenient than refilling reusable bottles because during an emergency, time is of the essence.
“The town of Middletown alone responded to over 1000 fires in 2018 and like all of the other fire departments in the area, the members are all volunteer. Providing these first responders with clean, potable water to have while responding to an emergency is a very simple thing to do” says Dr. Thompson.
