Introducing the Trimble SPS930 Universal Total Station from Trimble Civil Construction to our inventory. These machines lead the industry in accuracy, range and reliability for fine grading, paving, stockpile scanning and site measurements.
We spoke with IDC’s Civil Project manager, Elijah Berthelsen, who walked us through the technology and explained why it was a no brainer to acquire the Trimble.
“Having the Trimble as part of our inventory significantly improves our efficiency on site as it eliminates the need for us to engage with a third-party surveyor. This facilitates flexibility on site and allows us to remain fast-paced so we can get on with the job. We can rely on site control to accurately determine positions anytime and anywhere, irrespective of weather conditions, as it operates independently of GPS. The setup process for the machine is rapid, enabling us to obtain the necessary markings swiftly and continue our work.
We conduct accuracy checks on existing control points, and upon verification, our site design is loaded and displayed on the screen. This allows us to identify the points to stake out our building or concrete layout. The system enables the robotic tracking target to be aligned with machinery for automatic and precise grade control. It is particularly advantageous for concrete layout and site positioning, as it allows us to employ the same equipment for both subgrade and concrete height setting.
