A recently disclosed ransomware attack has compromised sensitive medical data for nearly 9 million dental patients! An unauthorized user accessed and obtained copies of sensitive information for over 8.9 million dental patients of Managed Care of North America (MCNA), the most significant health data breach so far this year. The breached information included Social Security numbers, driver's licenses, insurance data, and more, affecting parents, guardians, and guarantors who pay bills on others' behalf. The Russia-based LockBit ransomware group is taking credit for the attack and, since MCNA refused to pay, claims to have published all the files. MCNA hasn't identified the perpetrator but offers customers one year of complimentary identity theft protection and advises them to monitor their accounts.
