Microsoft is still trying to figure out how Chinese hackers were able to steal an inactive Microsoft account (MSA) consumer signing key used to breach the Exchange Online and Azure AD accounts of two dozen organizations, including government agencies. These security incidents involving the Chinese hacker group Storm-0558 and the Russian cybercrime RomCom have significantly impacted organizations worldwide.
Microsoft responded swiftly by revoking all valid MSA signing keys and moving them into its enterprise system to prevent any further malicious activity from taking place.
Despite these measures, large or small organizations are still susceptible to cyber-attacks, especially in light of recent events. Therefore, all enterprises must take appropriate steps to safeguard their data and IT infrastructure from further threats.
