I signed a contract with Iconic Paving (Roy Tabangi) on May 16, 2025. While it’s normal to wait a couple weeks before putting down the base layer, the delay just to get started was at least double what Roy promised.
When the new asphalt was finally installed in late June, Roy again ran past the timeframes he had given. But the bigger issue was what happened next: within a few days, a noticeable depression formed exactly where Roy had removed a basketball post. It had rained heavily, and no one had driven on the surface. This was clearly a base prep failure.
I contacted Roy right away. He acknowledged the problem and repeatedly told me he’d come back to fix it “next week.” From late June through September, I followed up multiple times. He always said he’d take care of it. Then nothing. No fix. No show. No resolution. It’s now October, and the defect is still there.
Roy was friendly when things were easy, but once there was a problem, he stopped following through. I now have to pay someone else to correct his mistake, and I’ll be pursuing recovery through Small Claims Court.
If you want a contractor who shows up, does the work properly, and stands behind it, you’ll want to look elsewhere. I regret hiring Iconic Paving.
