Another KungFu conditioning method is utilization of the BRASS RINGS. As the student works through his/her form, the rings serve to remind them of proper body mechanics. They add weight as they rub up and down the forearm and wrist, toughening the extremities. If proper stance and footwork is not adhered to, it will reflect back to the student as he/ she realizes that they “lost their root”. Center of gravity must be maintained or the bouncing clanging rings will cause the student to over extend their technique and “lean” over their center/ root and possibly injure themselves. Both the Iron Hand and the use of the Brass Rings are examples of advanced conditioning in the Chinese KungFu world.
