I was on the other side of town. I did what I always do and searched Google Maps for options in or around Bellaire, TX (I found out later he services all over Houston and the surrounding area) . I explained the situation to Anthony (the owner operator) and he coordinated getting someone out there within the hour. Adrian was there and already positioning himself to get started when I got there. He quickly diagnosed the situation which included shift interlock solenoid was stuck or failed. He was able to bypass using the shift lock release slot. He also informed me the vehicle had a sub-par battery that was fully drained and more importantly we determined the wrong battery was previously installed. Ford F150 Sport specifically states "AGM" battery. There is a major difference between Lead Acid battery construction and AGM. The Battery management system has to be set to the battery type installed. Putting a Lead Acid in place of the AGM results in too low a charge level. This is what was happening with my Dad's truck. I was quoted the price, the battery that was required was delivered and installed, tested and everything related to the battery type was fully explained. Truck started right up and looks like the shift interlock is no longer a problem. I was told if it gives us problems, just call Anthony and he'd come back out for us now that we're a preferred client. Once the work was completed and I attempted to pay, the bank had security default on the card for "suspicious behavior" so the transaction couldn't go through. Anthony was understanding while I did what I needed to do. All up and all in Houston Mobile Mechanic and Diesel Repair was faster at getting everything fixed than I was at getting him paid. We had a laugh about it all at the end of the day over a couple of beers. I can say hands down if you find yourself in a bind and need a Mobile Mechanic...
