Designing for the way Wollongong families actually live: indoor-outdoor connection.
At CKS Projects, we're a custom home builder based in Wollongong, and one of our favourite design moves is bringing the kitchen bar and outdoor lounge together through a servery window. It's a small architectural detail with a big impact on how a home feels day-to-day.
Picture this: a stone-topped kitchen bar with a servery window that opens straight onto a covered outdoor lounge area. Coffee passed through in the morning, drinks handed out during a Saturday arvo BBQ, kids grabbing snacks without tracking sand through the house. It's practical, it's social, and it suits our coastal Illawarra lifestyle perfectly.
This kind of feature doesn't happen by accident. It comes from thoughtful floor plan design, considering sun orientation, breeze paths, and how your family actually entertains. As a custom home builder, we work closely with our clients (and where needed, architects and designers) from concept through to construction, tailoring alfresco zones, outdoor kitchens, servery windows, and joinery details to suit each block, whether it's a new build, a knockdown rebuild, or a major renovation.
If you're planning a new home in Wollongong or the wider Illawarra and want an outdoor entertaining area that genuinely connects with your kitchen, we'd love to talk through the possibilities with you.
