Building on the edge: a Coledale escarpment renovation done right.
Sitting on a steep escarpment site overlooking the ocean at Coledale, and building on this kind of terrain takes more than a standard approach. CKS Projects worked through the site's structural challenges and steep topography with careful planning and close collaboration, from an elevated garage through to a timber walkway connecting the street down to the home.
Designed by Alex Urena Design Studio and delivered by CKS Projects, the rear elevation is composed through paired timber posts and balanced proportions, creating a calm architectural rhythm while framing views out over the bushland and ocean beyond. It's a strong example of what a custom home builder can achieve on a genuinely difficult block.
