Chiropractic adjustment/manipulation
Chiropractic adjustments, or manipulations as they are also referred to, are specific hands-on movements given to joints in the spine and other parts of the body by our highly skilled chiropractic physicians. These adjustments are designed to restore healthy alignment and mobility to the joints and surrounding tissue. When the joint complexes and their surrounding muscles, ligaments, and other tissue are not functioning properly and/or in proper alignment (often called a subluxation complex, subluxation, or segmental dysfunction) it creates a combination of inflammation, pain, stiffness, and irritation on the nervous system. In the early stages of a subluxation complex you may not experience many symptoms, which is why chiropractic care can be an effective prevention tool as well.
Functional rehabilitation is a term that encompasses many types of therapy that are integrated to achieve a better function and reduce pain. Interventions are primarily based in therapeutic exercise, but also include neuromuscular reeducation/stretching, neurodynamics, and myofascial release. You will be shown individualized exercises or activities that can be done at home to ensure that your recovery is as efficient as possible.
