⚡️Induction Cooktop Install – What You Need to Know⚡️
Thinking about upgrading to an induction cooktop? They’re fast, efficient, and safer than traditional electric or gas options, but they do need the right electrical setup to run properly and safely.
Induction cooktops draw a high current, so they require their own dedicated circuit from your switchboard. We typically install a 6mm cable on a 32-amp circuit, which provides plenty of capacity for most domestic cooktops.
A local isolation switch also needs to be installed in a visible and accessible location near the cooktop. This allows the appliance to be easily turned off for servicing or in an emergency, as required by Australian Standards. From this switch, the circuit is connected directly to the cooktop for a neat and compliant installation.
Benefits of induction cooking:
✅ Faster and more efficient heating
✅ Instant temperature control
✅ Safer — no open flame or hot element
✅ Sleek, easy-to-clean surface
If you’re planning a kitchen renovation or upgrading your appliances, we can safely install the dedicated circuit and isolation switch for your new induction cooktop, ensuring it’s compliant, reliable, and ready to go.
