A local business decided to do their own electrical work and incorrectly installed everything! There’s a reason the State of Michigan and for that matter every state requires a formal education and 4 years minimum to be eligible to take the journeyman exam and an additional 2 years to be eligible for the Master exam after working 2 years as a journeyman. This customer almost burned their business to the ground! Consumers cut the power lines to the business and red flagged the service! We had to provide load calculations and work with the customer to develop a power consumption plan to prevent overloading the transformer! They were told if they used too much power they would lose the right to use Consumers electric grid! There’s a lot that needs to be done and it Must be done Correctly when you have the need for a 400 amp service! This customer was harvesting marijuana and needed a service upgrade but didn’t understand this. Long story short electricity is a skilled profession and just because you can purchase materials at big box stores doesn’t mean that you can find how to install it on YouTube! Seriously just call an electrician and get multiple quotes you will find that it’s way more affordable than a roof or pool!
