why is subflooring important? 🤔
When we do a professional tile installation, we always get asked why we lay down this orange membrane first. Here is the "why" behind the work we did for the Ariid Group back in December:
Tip #1: Think about movement. Subfloors (even solid ones) expand and contract with the weather. This Schluter-DITRA layer "uncouples" the tile from the subfloor so that when movement happens, your tiles don't crack.
Tip #2: Vapor Management. This system allows the subfloor to "breathe" underneath, which prevents moisture from trapped under your tiles.
Tip #3: Cleanliness is key. You can see how we keep the mortar lines tight and the site organized even during the "messy" phase. A clean prep leads to a perfect finish.
