Is NeoGraft or ARTAS better?
ARTAS has an advantage in the speed of harvesting hair grafts. It is virtually impossible for a human to beat a computer that can make thousands of calculations per second. The ARTAS system selects hair grafts for transplantation based on a complex algorithm. It is important to note that this advantage only exists during the harvesting of hair.
Both ARTAS and NeoGraft use the same implantation method –manual transplantation by a technician or surgeon. It’s capable of identifying the best folicule candidates by analyzing certain features of the hair follicle including angle, orientation, distribution, density, and direction. These identification procedures increase the efficiency of the procedure and produce excellent results when compared statistically with other procedures. While no doctor can guarantee 100% restoration, the general consensus is that ARTAS should be used when it can be.
However, ARTAS has two disadvantages compared to NeoGraft:
ARTAS is more expensive per graft than NeoGraft and it does require skin tension while Neograft does not!
Lastly, the tool is as good as the user! Technician vs robot. There are some techs out there that have good hand eye coordination, but the robot has it every time.
