Should I fertilize before or after an aeration? This is a very common question we get asked. The answer is that it is typically best to fertilize within a week of the aeration. This allows the fertilizer to penetrate the soil to reach the grass roots much more easily. It also prevents ny fertilizer from being moved "off-target" if you have very compacted soil. You don't want your fertilizer being washed or blow away from an area that you NEED to encourage the grass to grow. Providing proper irrigation following an aeration is also important. You don't want to fertilize without ensuring the grass is well hydrated too.
