What to Do if a Chimney Fire Occurs
If a chimney fire breaks out, your first priority is safety. Evacuate everyone from the space and call the fire department immediately. Once you are out of harm’s way, and only if it is safe, you can take additional steps to limit damage. Use a fire extinguisher or a specialized chimney fire extinguisher if possible, close the glass doors of the fireplace, and seal the wood stove’s inlets.
