Today, I blocked off two fireplace flue openings because the homeowners chose not to use them any longer. I applied a piece of metal flashing over the entire fireplace opening and tagged the interior damper for non-use for liability reasons. This will address the customer’s issue of cold air coming in and prevent warm air from being drawn out by the chimney flue’s drafting effect during winter. The project was completed near E 55th St, Minneapolis, MN 55417.
