This is a long one but needed.
I can not express how much this wonderful human means to us! My now wife and I had planned a ceremony on October 4th in Burnsville N.C., Hurricane Helene had other plans. Through it all he was an absolute ray of sunshine. We were not able to contact anyone for five days after the hurricane hit as it wiped out most of our surrounding town. Once we were able to find service Greg was one of our main calls, both to reschedule and make sure he was also ok. He was understanding and sympathetic and even searched multiple routes to see if there was any way he could make it to us on our original date. Unfortunately the entire connection from our state to his was washed away. Once we realized this he was fast to offer alternate officiants and an immediate refund. We only called one of them and realized that it just didn’t feel right. Greg had taken the time to FaceTime us and had shown us he genuinely cared and we didn’t feel like anyone else could have such a genuine love for love like he does. We called him back and asked when his next available date was. October 27th. We thought “maybe the roads will
Be passable by then” and we said yes please. The day came up fast while we scrounged around to try to pull our lives back together and some remnants of what our wedding was supposed to be. Our venue was actually where we got trapped when the storm hit so we frantically prepared to camp out and make it though all of this loss and disaster with being married at least. The road was fixed to where 4wheel drives only could reach and I was ripping up the mountain in my front wheel drive with each small group of guests to arrive when my tire totally blew out. I called greg since he was set to arrive beautifully on time despite his GPS showing closed routes, he had pressed on to make absolutely sure. When I told him I blew my tire and myself, mom, dad and brother were stranded with a 45 minute hike ahead of us only an hour before the wedding, there was no stress in his voice, a gleam of hope, he said “it will have to be one at a time in my jeep but I will make trips!” He was willing to drive up and down the mountain to get us all to the ceremony! Gregg offered that I could write a script for him to read and we wanted our wedding to be personal and intimate so I had written a rough draft for him prior to the storm. Needless to say I didn’t have a chance to send ANY of it to him. When he arrived, thankfully we had caught a ride up before then, Greg stepped aside with me and went over his ceremony script and if I had ANY notes or ideas he brought his pen out and wrote them in! In just 10 minutes he was able to bring together such a beautiful and personal ceremony that a few of our guests asked us if we had known him a long time! We highly highly recommend him as an officiant and a friend! Absolutely wonderful, detail oriented, on time, flexible to say the least, and willing to do what he can to help at any time. You will not regret choosing him as the person that truly makes it all happen on your big day.
