GReat Greek Food - Grill House

I've passed GReat Greek Food countless times, largely because it sits close to my dancing school. And I've ignored it just as consistently, thanks to its deeply unfortunate, uninspiring name. GReat Greek Food suggests deseperation, not greatness - the kind of name that feels like a plea rather than a promise. That was until a friend of mine, someone with similarly exacting and unforgiving tastes, insisted it was the best Greek food he'd ever had. Reluctantly, I took the plunge. The interiors were the first surprise. Deliberately theatrical, they feel less like a restaurant and more like a set. Painted Santorini domes and plastic bougainvillea line the walls like stage backdrops. The whole place looks like the set of an early-1980s camp Pedro Almodóvar film — bold, artificial, unapologetically kitsch. Then came the food — and the second, far more important surprise. Dish after dish arrived with quiet confidence: deeply authentic, clearly family-made, anything but performative. There is something almost insulting — to metaphor, to irony, to nuance — about how accurate the name turns out to be. GReat Greek Food really is exactly and simply that.

We enjoyed the food and restaurant we went there twice. We were in London for a conference. Staying across the road. The portions were perfect size and tasty. Nothing at all to find fault with. Everything was authentic and fresh. Staff very knowledgeable about food too. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience

Just visited this restaurant because it was close to where we were staying. Really glad I did. Food was great and staff are lovely. Check it out if you are near Mount Pleasant. Will definitely be back.

Great food and service, the place is a great find for those looking for authentic Greek food in London. The atmosphere is very traditional too

Amazing Greek cafe, humble surroundings but excellent food! Really enjoyed my beef kebab roll that had plenty of salad & chips in!!! Incredible dessert cabinet too!

My friends and I had dinner at this place and everything was wonderful. The food was excellent, the staff were kind and patient, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We truly loved our time there and will definitely be coming back. A special thank you to the owner for being so accommodating and for patiently handling my many requests to add people to the booking.

We really enjoyed the food at GReat. It was tasty and came in big portions. The hanging plants and flowers inside offer a really nice view and the corner with the lighthouse decoration really make me remember Greece. Good value for money and probably one of the fewest restaurant in London that still don't have the service charge included by default. Loved it! 😍

This was a wonderful find! A delicious greek restuarant with very good prices, fantastic presentation and the friendliest staff ever! I cannot recommend this place enough, I had such a lovely meal and I'm sure you will too!

Simply love this place! I went with some Greek friend and they told me it was an authentic place to eat Greek food. So happy! I had a chicken souvlaki, regular size, and was perfect. Y friends got the large one and couldn't eat it all. Was a lot of food. We also had grilled halloumi as an starter, and then shared a piece of baklava, and it was delicious. When i had it in other places, I remember it being extremely sweet, but this one had the perfect balance.

GReat taverna in london the food is very authentic and flavorful, the service is great and the staff is very friendly. Had the Easter special menu which was so good, only thing is i wish there was more cucumber in the salad for the price of £12. They also have a great selection of greek products, definitely coming back!
