Cool autumn evenings are on their way. Got Electric offers the following fire pit safety advice:
• Check wind direction before lighting a fire.
• Do not use flammable fluids (gasoline, lighter fluid, etc.) to light or relight fires.
• Do not t wear flammable clothing or any loose-fitting clothing.
• Keep children and pets at least three feet away from the fire.
• Avoid using soft woods like pine or cedar, they can pop and throw sparks.
• Keep a #fireextinguisher, garden hose or bucket of water nearby.
It is also important that you know how to safely dispose of the #firepitashes when you finished with the fire for the night. Once the ashes have cooled, fire departments recommend putting ashes in a metal container and pouring water on them.
