The first fold of our flag symbolizes life.
The second signifies our belief in eternal life.
The third honors the veteran departing our ranks, who gave part of their life for the defense of our country to attain peace.
The fourth exemplifies our weaker nature as citizens trusting in God; we turn to Him for divine guidance.
The fifth acknowledges our country: may she always be right, but it's still our country, right or wrong.
The sixth represents where our hearts lie. With our heart, we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands.
The seventh is a tribute to our armed forces, through whom we protect our country and our flag against all enemies.
The eighth honors the one who entered the valley of the shadow of death so we might see the light of day and honors our mothers.
The ninth honors womanhood; their faith, love, loyalty, and devotion have molded this country.
The tenth is a tribute to fathers, who have also given their sons and daughters for the defense of our country.
The eleventh, in the eyes of Hebrew citizens, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, glorifying the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
The twelfth, in the eyes of Christian citizens, represents an emblem of eternity, glorifying God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
The last fold, the thirteenth, when the flag is completely folded, has the stars uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”
