Most commercial lighting currently installed falls into three categories: HID, fluorescent, or LED. Facilities still primarily lit with HID or #fluorescentfixtures require a greater amount of maintenance than facilities lit by LED. Commonly replaced lighting components are:
Bulbs:
Fluorescent T12 HO bulbs, fluorescent T8 bulbs, and fluorescent T5 HO bulbs burn out regularly and require replacement.
Ballasts:
Fluorescent and #HIDbulbs run at a different voltage supplied by the power company. A ballast, which is a type of transformer, raises or lowers the voltage to a level used by the specific type of bulb. If the light bulbs still do not light after replacement, the ballast is usually the cause.
