Glossus Humanus, Shell Museum Cavtat
About
The World of Mollusca We are honoured to present you our collection of sea shells, Glossus Humanus. We are a family of divers, travelers and great admirers of the sea. Our collection started as decoration for nursery room and now counts over 3500 different species from all oceans of the world. As our collection increased over years and as the biodiversity decreases daily we felt obliged to offer our treasure to public and spread admiration we have for marine life and its preservation. In just one year we have become a top attraction in Cavtat, a simple must see, especialy for families with kids. Our museum is funded only by our own achivements so we can't thank you enough for your support in our quest to be the best advocates of the sea.

Just happened to stumble across this place when in the area with my partner. Was absolutely amazed, super interesting & well worth the visit. The lady who owns/works at the museum Ines has incredible knowledge on every shell and piece of art exhibited and is more than happy to share any information she can give you. Couldn't have asked for a better guide!

A must do in Cavtat for sure. Over 3000 shells and so much to learn! The museum is run by a kind family who has been collecting these shells over 20 years. The dedication, love and energy put into this venture is nothing short of surreal. The variety, knowledge and kindness of the owners is heartwarming. If you have a few bucks to spare, do explore their handmade jewellery section

An amazing collection of incredible shells from all over the world. Designs beyond your imagination and some so intricate and delicate it's difficult grasp how they were created. Well worth a visit and small charge to support the families work.

We stumbled upon this place by chance on our way to the airport. It's a lovely little museum and the owner is very passionate and knowledgeable. Entry is €7 per person.

My friends and we fortunate enough to discover this place and meet the owner of the museum who generously shared her hard work, passion and story with us. It was the highlight of our day. Beautiful because of the shells and the sentiment behind them.

Went to visit as we were staying in Cavat, walked up the steps to the cutest little doorway and inside was the loviest lady who was very passionate and knowledgeable about her collection. Lovely activities for the children to do. My daughter loved exploring the shells, colouring and learning about how to look after the seas and the shells. My daughter loved it and even got a lovely little shell from the women who is running it. Lovely jewellery bits to buy that are handmade. Fabulous visit if your nearby. 100% recommend x

What a wonderful little museum! A fantastic collection, presented in a beautiful space, by people who really care. A real highlight of our visit to Cavtat - the conversation just as much as the gorgeous shells. Thank you.

Highly recommended. The collection is impressive and highly varied, and the staff is very kind. Fun educational activities for kids. Friendly pricing with discounts for certain groups. Free wifi. Don't miss out on the informational slides on the telly! One thing that I would recommend is lifting the shelves a little as it is difficult to read the information on the bottom one otherwise.
