A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Cavtat The Shell Museum in Cavtat is a small but incredibly charming and educational place, perfect for a quick yet enriching visit. Despite its modest size, the museum houses an impressive collection of shell specimens from all over the world’s oceans. It’s truly remarkable how many fascinating examples are displayed within such a compact space. A special thanks goes to the lovely lady who runs the museum – her warm welcome, engaging presentation, and willingness to answer every question made the experience even more enjoyable. Her passion and knowledge brought the exhibits to life and added a personal touch that made the visit memorable. Whether you’re exploring solo or with family, this museum offers a peaceful and informative stop. It’s conveniently located right in the center of Cavtat, just a few hundred meters from the main bus station and tourist information center. Highly recommended for anyone looking to learn something new and appreciate the beauty of the sea in a cozy setting!

An incredible Sea Shell Museum with shells hundreds of years old, even an Ammonite from the Jurassic Era, everything is in pristine condition aswell, absolutely must visit if you come by. It's hard to not be in awe when looking at the shells and how old they are. Increadible place, if you ever collected rocks or shells growing up, there's no way you can skip the this❤️ I promise you this one is worth it.

The Shell Museum was such a lovely and intriguing surprise on my trip. It's clear that a lot of love and dedication went into the creation of this family-run collection. It was wonderful to speak with the owner and learn more about the museum, the shells, and the purpose behind their endeavor. Such a kind and welcoming environment! A visit here is a must while you are in Cavtat.

Great family run museum with a very friendly and knowledgeable owner. Despite it's small size we spent at least an hour in there - the shell detective game for the kids is a great idea, my daughter loved it and really got her invested in the different types of shells on display. Would highly recommend a visit.

Loved this museum on my visit yesterday - the woman was really passionate and her energy rubbed off on me. The museum is beautiful, small but so interesting and clean and well presented. There’s a quiz for kids, but I did it and got a free shell!

I never thought I could be moved to tears by shells..! This family-run museum was born out of a passion for diving, sea exploration, and shell conservation. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves and one of the curators talked us through the exhibition, pointing out exhibits of interest, including shells that were over 165 million years old. I was particularly moved by the small exhibit of molluscs that are already extinct or nearing extinction. A lovely and informative museum to visit.

Just happened to stumble across this place when in the area with my partner. Was absolutely amazed, super interesting & well worth the visit. The lady who owns/works at the museum Ines has incredible knowledge on every shell and piece of art exhibited and is more than happy to share any information she can give you. Couldn't have asked for a better guide!

If you love Sea this is a place you must visit. There is a big collection of shells, the owner is super nice and has broad knowledge. There is also fun game which is dedicated for kids but it is also a little challenging for adults. I highly recommend it!

The museum belongs to a family of shell collectors. They were very nice, upon entering they will tell you how the museum was created. It's obvious that they do it out of love. It's a wonderful collection. You will spend about an hour there and it is definitely worth it!
