We walked the Beara Way and started in Glengarriff. Our first night we spent on the Glengarriff Caravan and Camping Park, it is located about 2.5km (30 min. walk). We came by bus form Cork (bus to Castletownbeare), if you ask the driver to stop at the campsite you can probably save yourself the walk :). The campsite is tidy with good amenities; showers are included in the price and are warm. For caravans and campers, the pitches are paved, and for small tents, there is a separate field near the toilets. There is also a communal area where you can do the washing up, and there is a kettle and toaster provided, which is very convenient! The campsite also has a pub/restaurant with occasional live music; the prices are reasonable for both the food and drinks. The owner/manager of the campsite is friendly and helpful. Free WiFi is also available.
You can do your shopping in Glengarriff, where there are also several pubs and restaurants.
