We did the Scenic Mountain Tour and it was a great way to spend a half day! The staff at the gift shop and guides were all so friendly and accommodating and the easy trail ride was perfect for our group. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a fun snowmobile tour in the Anchorage or Girdwood area. Will definitely be coming back for a glacier ride once that opens!

We did the Blue Ice Glacier Snowmobile Tour in February, and as a born and raised Alaskan, I’m honestly sad I didn’t do this sooner! It was such a fun and unforgettable experience — worth every cent. We got to see parts of the glacier that you’d never be able to reach otherwise, and it was absolutely stunning. I don’t own a snowmachine, so this was an awesome way to get out and explore. The guides were fantastic — friendly, helpful, and clearly focused on making sure everyone had a great time. Super happy with the entire experience and can’t wait to go again!

We had an amazing snowmobile tour with Glacier City. From start to finish our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers had one of the best tour experiences of our lives. The equipment was first rate as was the logistics. Our Guide, Steven, was a patient and knowledgable teacher whose love of snowmachining and nature made the trip one of the most memorable we have ever had. It was an amazing experience, I highly recommend Glacier City to anyone who wants an family friendly adventure that creates lifelong memories.

We booked the glacier tour on our vacation to Alaska this spring. Unfortunately, they weren't experiencing much snow this year and we were unable to do that tour. We went ahead and opted for the scenic tour since we were all excited to ride a snowmobile for our first time ever. Our experience was great. We loved the snowmobiles, had a fun time on the path, had guides that made sure we were having a fun time and they even changed things up so that the slower people were able to go the speed they wanted, but everyone wasn't forced to go that slow. Our teens had an awesome time and got in some thrills on the path while checking out the great mountain views. We rode for some time, stopped for some reindeer sausage and rode briefly again before heading out. I would have liked a shorter break to eat and a little more ride time, but the reindeer sausage was tasty and we had a great day. Like others who have been on the tour we did just go in circles on a path on some private property. (Where we live people regularly do this with four wheelers on dirt paths through the woods, so it was a similar experience with a different machine through the snow and amazing views.) We didn't really know what to expect , but we imagined we'd be going out more into the wilderness to ride, rather than just a track. That's probably unrealistic! Who knows. Even so, we would do it again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We did the portage lake raft and glacier hike and it was one of the highlights of our Alaska trip! My 9 yo twins loved helping to paddle, playing with the dog and iceberg fishing. The scenery was amazing, eating lunch on a beach next to a glacier was amazing. A perfect day!

First , I must say that the staff and guides were great and the sleds were in like new condition. The big disappointment for me and my wife was in the "plan B " scenic mountain tour. We were originally scheduled for the Blue Glacier tour which we were not able to do because of weather conditions- I get it, mother nature has other plans sometimes. We were offered the scenic mountain tour as a " plan B " tour which we told was comparable to blue glacier tour. Although it was $100 cheaper/ per person I cant understand how this tour can be sold as " comparable ". The blue glacier tour is listed as 3 1/2 hours of snowmobiling ; we were lucky if we did 1 hour total riding on the flagship mountain tour. We rode for 10 minutes (< 1 mile doing a figure 8 up to a lookout ) where the view was great and we stopped for 15 min to take pictures. We rode for another 10 minutes (< 1 mile )doing a slightly different loop through the "forest" to the backcountry cabin ( which was less than 100 yards from where we started the ride ). We enjoyed our free lunch ( a reindeer hotdog , which was good ) for approximately 45 minutes break before our final ride. We once again rerode our previous loops and trails for 40 minutes ( maybe ) , never traveling more than 500 yards from our starting point. The "forest" trails were in scrub brush for 90% weaving and zig zagging around a bunch of old rusted equipment and buildings- not very picturesque " as described" unless you count looking up and around each time you stopped which was very scenic and beautiful. Bottom line : our expectations were high ( due to the description of the tour and what we were told ) and the tour was a disappointment , not worth the $275 asking price. If you have never rode a snowmobile, you will enjoy this tour. If you are expecting a good (" comparable ") snowmobile ride through mountain " forest " trails ( as we were ) you will also be disappointed. All in all , we were still in Alaska enjoying everything, we just felt like we led into this tour believing it was a good plan B option and our expectations were maybe too high. I understand they dont want to lose any tour money and we did have the option to cancel when our original tour was not available- hopefully this review will shed a better light on what to expect from this plan B option or plan A if that is your choice. Once again the staff and guides were great !

Stephen was a great tour guide and a very skilled snowmobile rider. He took us to some great spots and cooked up some mean reindeer hotdogs. Would recommend this experience %100

Did this tour with our family during the holidays and highly recommend! Steve and Caroline were great guides and very patient with us as first time riders. We were hopeful for the glacier tour but conditions didn't allow it so we opted for the shorter Scenic tour.

This will be our 9th season riding with Glacier City and it is always a great time. They provide all the gear needed for snowmobiling in Alaska and whether it is the shorter scenic tour or the glacier tour - they always provide us with great memories and pictures from our adventure. Highly recommend this company as their guides and staff are always so accommodating and friendly!
