George Ranalli Architect Announces the Opening of Morningside Café
George Ranalli Architect is proud to announce the official opening of Morningside Café, located at the intersection of 112th Street and Manhattan Avenue within the historic Morningside Park.
This exciting new café features celebrated Harlem culinary figure Michael Summerville, widely known as Crabman Mike, whose distinctive seafood menu—highlighted by his renowned sauces and flavorful dishes—has long been a neighborhood favorite. Crabman Mike and his partner, Ada, bring their signature flair and hospitality to this new community destination.
Guests can enjoy their meals al fresco on the café’s terrace, which offers scenic views of the historic Frederick Law Olmsted–designed Morningside Park and the majestic rear façade of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The café’s kiosk architecture, designed by George Ranalli Architect, complements its natural and cultural surroundings while offering a modern and inviting atmosphere.
This project represents a truly collaborative effort, made possible through the support of the NYC Parks Department, Commissioner Sue Donoghue, Tony Macari & Joy Gutierrez, the Friends of Morningside Park, Community Planning Districts 9 & 10, Peninsula Construction and the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC).
