This Contorted willow had previously been pollarded poorly, causing a large bough to become diseased and rotten. This posed a safety risk, as rotten boughs and branches can fall at any time, as well as looking unsightly.
However, the tree was saved - Foxy performed a pollard and 40% crown lift, both to preserve the health of the tree and to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
A crown lift raises the height of the lowest branches of a tree, making it look tidier as well as providing vertical clearance space within the garden.
