Emergency Tree Services
Where possible, we will do our best to deal with fallen trees as soon as possible if they are deemed dangerous.
Stump grinding/removal
Stump Grinding reduces the stump to around 30cm below ground level, so it can then be covered with soil if desired.
Tree Removal
Most trees in London and small gardens are section felled using a rigging system. This is carried out by lowering each section carefully to the ground.
Crown reductions
Pruning the entire crown of the tree, from the extremities. Reduced either by a percentage or by metres back to growth points, leaving plenty of foliage.
Crown thinning
Thinning out the middle and tips of the branches to allow more light and wind to pass through the tree.
crown lift
A crown lift raises the height of the bottom of the canopy to a specified height, e.g. a crown lift of 4m would mean that no branches of the tree will drop under the 4m mark
pollarding
A form of reduction whereby a tree is completely stripped of all its branches, usually back to the same point every few years creating large, bulbous ends to the branches known as ‘knuckles’. This practice provides an easy management routine, it is also considered to stunt root growth.
Monolith
if a tree is very decayed or in its last stages of life but the trunk is still stable and gives benefit to wildlife, a monolith to the tree is an option. This is carried out by removing all of the canopy and some of the trunk if needed.
Stump poisoning
Ecoplugs are small pellets filled with a substance that kills root systems. They are inserted by drilling holes into the stump, allowing the plugs to penetrate several cm down. The poison acts downwards and only on the root system of the stump which it is applied to, does not effect the flora/fauna.
