Who knew that toilet paper had such an interesting history? In 1857, Joseph Gayetty invented the first commercially available toilet paper in the United States! Called "Gayetty's Medicated Paper," this early toilet paper was sold in flat sheets and marketed as a cure for hemorrhoids.
