How to Align Electric Eyes on a Garage Door?
If your garage door won’t close or keeps reversing, misaligned electric eyes (safety sensors) might be the cause. These sensors detect obstacles to prevent accidents. When dirty, blocked, or out of alignment, they can send false signals, stopping the door from closing.
Start by cleaning the lenses and checking for obstructions. Inspect the LED lights—blinking or off means misalignment. Loosen the sensor brackets, then align them using a string or laser level until both are level and facing each other.
Tighten the brackets and confirm solid LED lights. Test the door: it should close properly and reverse when an object blocks the beam. If the issue persists, check sensor wiring, power supply, or replace damaged sensors. Proper alignment ensures your garage door works safely and reliably.
