What’s a blue tape walkthrough?
When you buy a new construction home, most often the home is actually still in construction when you make an offer and go under contract. Which also means that nothing is fully finished. Lots of construction and finish work is still happening.
When construction is through and the home is finished the buyers and the builders representative go through the whole home together—buyers can point out things that aren’t quite up to standards for a brand new home. Things like, missing or patchy paint, nail holes that aren’t filled, cracks in drywall, loose doorknobs, missing hardware, maybe a light isn’t working. The list can be as minimal or extensive as you’d like.
The buyer simply rips off a piece of blue painters tape and marks the area of concern that needs addressed before they’ll sign on the dotted line. The blue tape issues are remedied by the builder prior to closing.
