Honestly, I felt that the entire experience was a waste of time, especially since I had to arrange childcare in advance. I had already been in my appointment for about 30 minutes when the staff member who assisted me (who was very kind and professional) informed me that the wait would be an additional 1.5 to 2 hours.
I arrived at 12:00 p.m., even though my appointment was scheduled for 1:00 p.m., fully prepared to wait that extra hour—which I did. However, the older gentleman at the front desk made a sarcastic remark about me “just liking to be early,” which came across as unprofessional. Shortly after, he began speaking quite loudly about my insurance information, which felt like a clear violation of HIPAA privacy standards.I also became aware of other patients’ personal information due to conversations held by the older woman at the front desk, including details about another patient’s medical history and Medicare coverage. This was very concerning and clearly demonstrates a need for improved staff training on patient privacy and confidentiality.
