We got a call from a regular trade customer who had purchased the vehicle from the salvage auction with no working keys.
These Mini’s are notoriously dangerous to programme new keys diagnostically through the OBD port and 9 out of 10 times it will kill the CAS unit (Car Access System) which is buried under the dashboard.
Rather than damage the CAS unit and then have to still remove and repair it we just took it out and did it on the bench. This meant fully removing the dashboard 😭
Also we had to remove the ECU to read additional information to make key programming possible.
