We were called to provide a second opinion and evaluation of a home heating system that was being readied for a home sale. The owner had a big name heating contractor come in for her initial inspection. The contractor red tagged her boiler and claimed that a leaking nipple attached to the heat exchanger was not manufacture approved and later quoted her $4000.00 to repair. Upon my inspection, I found a damaged heat exchanger with all manufactured components and the cover of the heat exchanger loose therefor allowing CO to escape.
We ordered a new heat exchanger and second day aired it. We had the heating system back online, combustion balanced, 0 PPM CO, bell and whistle checked, polished up and ready for sale for under $2000.00
The boiler system finished and cleaned is the picture on the bottom right. The Mack family was very happy.
